Kitchen Renovation In ProgressreNew Design Studio welcomes the opportunity to meet with you and discuss your project. A typical project works like this:
- Initial Meeting - We meet at the project and discuss the project, your vision, and the services reNew Design Studio can provide. Contact reNew Design Studio at 515 + 710 3484 or steve@studiorenew.com to set up a free initial meeting.
- Proposal - reNew Design Studio prepares a proposal that outlines the exact scope of design work and provides an estimate of the fees. For more information, see the page on Pricing Structure.
- Agreement - Client signs the proposal and returns it to reNew Design Studio.
- Design - The project starts. Depending on the project, additional meetings may be required for measuring the existing building, client approvals, final review, etc. Progress payment is typically required at the completion of each phase.
- Completion - At the end of the design process, you will have a set of drawings that can be used to solicit contractor bids, acquire a building permit, and perform the work.
Of course, each project is unique! Some projects (like a deck, for example) will have fewer steps and be complete in a much faster time line than a complete home renovation or custom home.
I have over 10 years of years experience in residential renovation, addition, and new construction design, including historic tax credit projects. However, I am not a licensed architect and will not provide “sealed” architectural drawings. Most municipalities, including Des Moines, do not require sealed drawings for residential projects. Under certain circumstances such as major structural modification to an existing building, the permit reviewer may require the services of a licensed structural engineer. I can refer you to a structural engineer or contract with one directly if the need arises.
